Many people from all over Southern California gathered for a people's assembly on addressing homelessness and it's associated issues from it's many root causes.
We gathered at:
We then found our way to the basement:

Event Organizer Hidalgo:

FOOD NOT BOMBS (both the Downtown Los Angeles and Guerrilla Chapters working together in unity) were kind enough to provide a filling and nutritious breakfast and lunch (with various snacks throughout the day.) Not one soul left feeling hungry; there was plenty of food to go around.

Many people spoke on a variety of issues including but not limited to:
Homeless:
- WORK
- HEALTH CARE
- CIVIL RIGHTS
- WOMEN
- HUNGER
- AFFORDABLE HOUSING
- WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO TO DEAL WITH THESE ISSUES
The above issues all addressed root causes. It was determined that as a people we must learn to care for one another; that if we do not take care of each other NO ONE will. This was an eye opening introduction to many issues for the unaware.
Some Speaker Photos:

The Los Angeles chapter of COPWATCH gave a presentation on who they are and what they do for the community.
During the presentation I ventured outside for a moment to find that police were in the middle of an arrest. I quickly informed COPWATCH and direct action was immediately taken to safely document the event.

Once COPWATCH arrived and went into action the responding officer immediately called for as much backup as he could get as community oversight can be a very scary thing.

Officer's responded to the call very quickly...

The SGT. and Other arresting officers..

All of this occurred because a homeless man allegedly hit two women at a near by cafe.
Local law enforcement did not like being watched and so in turn decided to stick around for awhile and watch the People's Assembly.

All in all it was a very successful and eventful gathering. Together we will make a change for the better.
